I liked this episode more than most ones from this show.
Many times I feel like they try to cram too much in one episode.
But this one is simple, low stakes and has a relatively slow pace that goes well with it.
I'm excited for the mini-live next week!

Loved the card game between Neko and Osoto! Finally a game scene between them adapted well and developing their relationship. Neko's smug laugh when she won was voiced so good! Her voice actress did a great job as usual.

I also love the cold and scathing delivery of Atori's "Grow up, would you?" Such a contrast from his usual tone.

I'm happy we're getting a two-parter for Kanekono's chapter adaptation. Great episode!

@gorkthe134th Heavily agree. This one's direction captures the game's dynamics between the main cast much better.

That was a nice ep even tho it was about idols. Idol culture is so stupid, 99% of those girls are terrible at singing and dancing
they are only good at being cute lol

A preparation episode for the concert, but I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen at the concert with Kanekono.

Neko is in total fan mode with Kanekono, but that makes her blind to the dark side of an idol's life. Kanekono died by her own hand from taking too many pills due to her career, and I wouldn't be surprised if her fellow idols had something to do with it.

It was fun to see Oosoto and Neko at their game; they're very similar, although Oosoto is a bit of a psycho. Still, Neko would do anything to hear Kanekono's song.

"If pushed into a corner, I'm fairly sure you would do it"

I hope that's foreshadowing, I would love to see Neko kill someone.

Hmm, to borrow from the theme of fan culture and fan communities to use an active fan term, I'm now definitely arriving at a place of "shipping" Tsukahara and Osoto.

Not that some of the groundwork wasn't laid prior and it hadn't been trending in that direction for a while, but I think we've reached that point by now. This episode officially seals it. Their interactions have fast become my favorite part of the series, along with the core idea behind the premise itself and the opportunity it affords overwhelmed and battered souls.

I'm not sure I can really see shipping potential between Osato and Neko, I don't think they have the same kind of chemistry as say, Light and L had in Death Note but they are at least entertaining on screen together (Also, Ruri is right there!)

I honestly wondered what that sound was... like something was crumbling or breaking. At first I thought the idol was breaking the glass she was holding, but the sound appeared three times if I'm not mistaken.

This episode felt more calm yet fun than usual. I really liked Neko's segment with Osoto. It was calm but intriguing... I mean, Neko has the potential to kill someone (if cornered by the situation) ? Whoa. Also, Ruri and Neko were confused why their shift paper is missing from the board. As well as the office worker guest who was angry out of place. Like, his anger is not wrong but also misdirected. I hope this all connects and leads to a pleasant surprise.

@WatchTillTandava it's the most popular ship in the fanbase prior to the anime, so you're picking up on something narratively important for sure! They've been building them up to be foils/parallels, with how Osoto keeps claiming that Neko and him are more alike than she thinks. Not to mention their Sherlock/Moriarty dynamic is a lot of fun.

I thought maybe it was the sound of her taking those pills it showed? That’s kind of what it sounds like when you push a pill out the back of one of those blister packs

Masaki's knowing Neko's address, now that's something. What even this dude playing at? What does he even wants by staying here for so long when he already know that he's alive?

The idol girl Konomi had it tough, I'm wondering if she was killed by that other idol. Neko really wanna make Konomi before she passes on, as she's already dead.

Neko finally gets her spotlight showcasing her idol stan, but to actually see her idol at the hotel, what gives?

Konomi "Kanekono" Kaneko coming to Tasogare Hotel with her actual face, she's quite the respected figure, even for those seething between the living and the dead. But the news of her passing, coming from the bereavement of her idol group 3Q, Neko is definitely at a crossroads of how to deal with her. Having Masaki in this stead to help Neko with escorting Kaneko to assess her recovery, her behavior of overeating, as well as having painkiller drugs, and the torn relationship with 3Q, is definitely concerning at the very least.

The actual idol and her idol stan consumering at a rejected song, and the latter offering to be her producer and gamble with Masato to join her, she easily trumps over him. But given his track record in the hotel, Masato is one not to be trusted, though Neko has no choice in the matter to form a band to help Kaneko. Obviously, asking Atori to play the saxophone is a stretch, but his adamant resistance gives off the vibe that he won't participate in the matter.

Clearly, Neko just wants Kaneko to sing again, though how will the others respond in kind?
