This series ended up really boring for me but I stuck with it because I don't like dropping things that I've put time into. 4.5/10 for me, but I know a lot of people enjoyed it and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Fuck yeah for the team work!! Teamwork is better than the MC doing it all by himself.
I really enjoyed this Anime. I am hoping for a season 2. I don't read LNs, so I will probably read the Manga someday.

Is no-one else kind of concerned about how Bell was kind of ridiculously OP in the final battle? They REALLY need to sort the pacing out in regards to how strong he gets.

In a matter of days*1 he goes from struggling to kill a Minotaur, nearly dying in the process, to killing a gigantic monster in practically one slice ON HIS OWN*2 (and a little stab with a knife).
Hell, literally JUST before the final battle, he was getting his ass kicked by some jealous adventurer. Yes, you could say "Oh, but the guy was invisible, so that doesn't really count", but suddenly, out of nowhere, Bell can suddenly, as he says, "feel his eyes on me" and can now apparently PERFECTLY dodge all of the attacks AND even break his sword. Was it ever explained how he can see him in thin air?

The fight scenes are well done though and the animation & artwork is beautiful.

Will I watch season 2? Absolutely. Can't wait. But the main thing they need to sort out is the speed on how strong he gets. It's too damn fast.

I give it a 7/10. It would be an 8/10 and POSSIBLY a 9/10, but the last three episodes were absolutely abysmal in its pacing, and I hope other people can see that. It's really left a bad taste in my mouth.

*1: How do I know it only took him a few days to go from Minotaurs to gigantic monsters? When that jealous adventurer was in the pub complaining about Bell, he states that "He comes into the middle floor practically only DAYS after leveling up," and we know that Bell leveled up as soon as he killed the Minotaur. This couldn't have been more than a week ago.

*2: "But what about all the teamwork," you may ask. "He had hundreds of people helping him," you may say. Well, I'm not counting that.
Why?
Because the monster regenerated after every attack, so it didn't matter what anyone else did, it would have no effect. You can't really say that they helped him due to the fact that none of their attacks actually did anything. Bell was able to slice off it's body above the torso in ONE SLICE and then finish it off with his knife.

The fact that in a few days he goes from almost dying to a Minotaur, to being able to take a gigantic shit on a, what, 200+ foot tall or so monster (I'm not good with estimating measurements, excuse me) is a MASSIVE problem in pacing and needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. It's pretty much my only beef with the show, along with the fact that Aiz is a cardboard representation of a pretty boring character

I liked the anime quite a lot, but felt it was maybe rushed a little-
Music and animation were top notch for me xD
Characters were okay, but their interaction with each other were quite funny and cool :D

Would have loved little more explanations on some parts, but in grand scheme it didnt really matter. So waiting for season 2 in high hopes xD
8/10 For me :)

Bell's voice actor is the main reason why the fights are so exciting. I'm sure that is the same reason SAOs fight were exciting.

Hestia is super fun, I am so glad she did not come across as annoying. I was worried about it. Character design and voice actress was superb!

Ryu's voice is captivating, I recognized her voice, but couldn't figure out who she was exactly.

I'm not bothered by it. He defeated a level 5 with teamwork. It is like a dungeon raid.

You forgot one thing. Where did Bell's sword come from? That is a huge determining factor.

Also, the team's attacks may have reduced the Golath's armor/regeneration/magic resistance.

That sword is a drop item of very high level. One of the highest drop item ever received if not the highest, because it's from a floor boss from level 37 (floor 1-12 ->level 1 monter, 13-24 is 2, 25-36 is 3, 37-48 is 4, 49-60 is 5 for normal monsters, and always add 2 to those level for a floor boss, so level 37 is monster level 4 and boss level 6), meaning, it's a drop item from level 6 monster. Since no party can reach floors with level 6 monster (lowest floor reached at that time : 59th) t means that the only way to actually get a level 6+ drop right now is a drop from a floor boss. Floor boss down there are rarely beaten, and when they are, they don't respawn before several months. And drop item aren't a frequent thing.

So yeah, that's faaaaar better than the knife he uses who follows his own stats, meaning, fresh level 2 right now.

GrimorumInvoke said:

It did. From a very very huge part the special goliath was already low on mana (which trigger his regeneration) anyway after all the attacks. That last one was just too big and too much after all the others taken. If it was the first one though, that would have probably not been enough. So it's indeed teamwork which won. Not even counting that hundred peoples stopped the goliath from reaching bell while he was charging the attack standing still. Without those guys, Bell woudl have been killed without charging 10% of that.

The surprising reveal by the end of the episode o_o Grandson of Zeus? Cool.

The fight itself was incredibly mediocre. Is this what the LN fans have been talking about, the epic moment in vol.5? That can't be it, can it?

The top review summed up my feelings about Bell and his power ups,
Bell doesn’t truly earn anything in his line of adventuring. Everything that helps him become stronger is either served to him on a silver platter or overcome through some ridiculous newfound level of power. Through certain attributes Bell is rendered pretty much unbeatable and given an unfair boost of all other adventures. With that you say goodbye to almost all the tension this show creates within the dungeon. If something does hold Bell back it takes no time for him to find a way around it. Some methods he uses to do so are out of left field and not properly explained. When an explanation for them does arrive – very much out of the blue – it comes at a ridiculous moment. While it does excuse a lot of Bell’s powerful capabilities, it’s a double-edged sword. The plot armour simply stacks higher on him.

His character section review was pretty spot on too, at least for me.

I thought the series had a lot of potential, but never reached its max. Granted, from what I learned through the episode discussion threads, this is a poor adaption of the light novel, so there's that too.

I wouldn't mind a second season though.

I liked this show a lot, I thought the last 3 episodes were poor compared to the rest, I kind of feel like Lily's story arc was one episode too long and could have been used to flesh out something else.

Also what the hell is Limit Off? they didnt even bother explaining it and why he has that ability, its never been mentioned before.

Would lie if i said the series wasn't entertaining. This last ep was a blast. Would love a season two where they right the wrongs and continue the story! it was just floor 18! what about the rest right? The skills that were portrayed before bell's finale was epic af! 7/10. Fan service didn't really bother. hope this gets popular that it gets a season 2!

Loved this series! 9/10 Need more!

And I've never seen SAO. All the hate this show is getting because people think it's like another show is stupid. Generic? If it's generic then there must be 20 more anime exactly like it. I don't buy that. This anime is rather unique compared to the others I've seen.

Overpowered but whiney MC, sure. Hot girls sure, but the fan service was on the low end. If that bothered anyone, then they're total prudes. It didn't distract from the plot. No plot? Bullshit. The plot is a boy trying to improve himself to impress the woman he likes. Basic, but not bad, and they pulled it off well. Character development was too fast though, but it was there. Some characters just weren't even explained (like that perverted goddess, she isn't even named), but if they're planning a second season or following the novels, there's a point to that. They're keeping us in the dark on purpose. Personally I prefer an unknown enemy as a plot device rather than an enemy that reveals themselves right away or right at the end of the series.

Anyways /rant Just thought the criticism of the show is rather nitpicky and unjustified, like people are looking for reasons to hate it rather than just sitting back and enjoying it. It's a solid show, imo.

I'm surprised at myself for picking this anime out of nowhere, and finishing it in one day. All I know about this show is that girl Hestia (who often appears in news for fanservice and that clothing cosplay)

I've never been so shocked to recognize a lot of seiyuus, or you could just call it 'star-studded'

Of course the MC had to be the harem king. As soon as I recognized it was Kirito, he was bound to have OP situations. I'm always like, uh oh.. Not him, not him, you don't wanna mess with him! Not to mention the dual wield minotaur fight (SAO much?)

I've seen Hestia's VA in AnoHana live action recently and I'm looking forward to that movie they were advertising (Anthem of the Heart)

What I definitely loved is having Ai Kayano (my favorite) in it as one of the OP ones as well! Now add Saori Hayami (Yukino, Shirayuki, Haqua, Chiriko) as the other badass character, my eyes would just shine all throughout the show.

I really enjoyed this show! That was a great boss fight (at least the one-hit kill wasn't really one-hit).. and I guess there were plenty of confusing moments, but it didn't really bring the show down all the way. I hope there is a season 2!

Oh, if it isn't obvious, the whole setting looks a lot like Aincrad... Wait, make that SAO. lol

i wasn't expecting nothing from this series so i liked a lot. A lot of things wasn't developed properly but it was funny to watch

This is a weapon crafted using a very high level drop. The origin of it is explained in sword oratoria 2nd volume (the spin off of danmachi). It has to do with Ais and the leader of the town on the 18th floor. There is a translated manga for sword oratoria that should soon enough reach this point (a few more chapter probably) if you want to know in details.
Lili found it among all the weapons and stuff that the multiples suporters were bringing from the shops to the "camp" near the battle in order to supply the fighters. She gave it to bell because it looked far stronger than any other weapon around, which is correct.

Thanks for explaining for us =D. They should have put this in the last episode. At least the part that Lili found the weapon.

I feel the same way. Perhaps making Hestia a bit less annoying and giving more screen time to Aiz would be a 9/10. I also wouldn't mind avoiding that whole harem sh1t with Bell.

Definitely needs a second season though. Seeing how the novels move by the time it ends there should be enough content for a total 3 maybe 4 seasons.

If by "his girl" you mean Aiz, that couldn't possibly happen. She left with the first party before the fight begun. That wouldn't happen anyway though because the anime follows the Light Novels.

But if would happen, it would be a waste since she is one of the strongest around. She would probably kill it within seconds without any trouble and Bell wouldn't get to kill it himself and become even stronger.

I knew there was gonna be a town started by wayward adventurers down there. Full of awesome badasses that town. Fighting that roided out attack on titan floor boss with so many people was like a raid party. EPIC EPIC EPIC lol And I guess bell is a demi god..blah blah....BUt they only got half the giant crystal from defeating that mid level boss. And did they even carry that half back for the money? lol Well I hate to say it, but as much as I want to see a 2nd season and see them all continue to level and explore and really get into some titanic world class battles, it probably will not happen. Still this show is the best fantasy I have seen thus far in my life, in the way of story based mmo/ rpgs. 7.5/10!!!!

Bell isn't a Demigod, he is a Mortal Human being. He is also the adoptive grandson of Zeus.

Mid 2014 when a LN Volume of DanMachi would debut, it would sell 10,000 units during the first week. After the anime came out it sells 100,000+ units during it's debut week. I'm sure that a second season or even more will surely come but that won't happen until they first release more Volumes.

If you can't access or you're unable to read Japanese LN, make sure to visit the wikia page of DanMachi. I learned almost everything important there is to know from there regarding this story. Also the story has 2 Manga. Make sure to follow them.

i prittymuch agree with that sentiment, the Action was ok (7/10) at best with okish payoffs. As for the story,an Intruiging premmise, started off very predictably, at the midpoint there was some potential for more complex story arks to devleop but that never ended up happening and we got a fine to ok ending.

so overall i'd give it a 6/10 (note i use the whole spectrum for my marking not just the top 40-50%, so that is a decent score)

Not entirely sure what you wrote here but if you seek more info about the characters you should consider reading the LN & manga. [maybe even the wikia page?]

J.C.Staff hasn't announced anything regarding a second season yet so waiting for new episodes will take quite some time. I think if they would release a second season, it would probably happen after LN Volume 10-11 are released so somewhere around 2016-2017.

I'm kinda dumbstruck. Everything was going great, I was liking all the episodes, and don't get me wrong, I liked this finale, but...

Such a cliffhanger.

Not as bad as Rokka's cliffhanger (which, was both literal and figurative)...

But come on, how can it end there!? I watched the finale all the way through until "Fin" appeared on the screen at the last second. I was like... "Huhhhh?"

But anyway, overall, I did enjoy this anime. 8.5/10 I guess.

They didn't expect the anime to be that successful in the first place so no wonder it's rushed and has lots of flaws. I'm positive that they will eventually do more seasons.

I got general weakness for actions and scenes that depict everyone including the mooks and familiar rivals desperately working together, and individual characters contributing by simultaneously attacking with their ultimate attacks or what-not to defeat a common foe. So yeah, hooray for teamwork! This episode just made my day. And it seems Ryu is also known as Lion (checking her MAL's character page, that's her whole name: Ryu Lion), interesting little details you learn on the fly. XD

What?!! Zeus grandson? O_o Well damn, move over Hercules, Perseus, and other sons, gods, demigods and mortal heroes alike, (yes, you too Kratos, move aside!) the 5th generation (counting from the Greek creation, the Olympians are 3rd generation) is shaping the new era! I wonder if Hestia know about it though.

2nd season please? I'll get whatever I can. This episode is 10/10 in my view because of the action alone, though the series as a whole is just 7/10.

a weapon craft from a level 6 monster rare drop. That's anything but generic, it's pretty much one of the sturdiest rare drop you can get. Read the sword oratoria manga to see where that weapon comes from (it's translated up to that point already). That weapon is closely related to Ais and to the leader of the 18th floor's settlement.

Lili found it among all the weapons and stuff that the multiples suporters were bringing from the shops to the "camp" near the battle in order to supply the fighters. She gave it to bell because it looked far stronger than any other weapon around, which is correct.

Well that's funny, ok, my answer is "all episodes", because that pic is from the opening of the anime, did you really watch this anime? Or you skipped all opening? And because I saw him in the opening all the time and yet I didn't see him anywhere in the story so I had to ask that question.

It's so funny that your question implies that "if you didn't see him anywhere then how could you take that pic". But perhaps you should have thought a little bit more and besides, how on earth couldn't you realize that that scene is not from the content of the anime? If you know who he is, which episode he makes his appearance in then please tell me already.

Are you trying to have me helping you or are you trying to have me leave you in the dust? You think I noticed something like that and remember it almost 6 months after finishing this anime? I was just trying to see that image in context to answer you properly.
Anyway, I'll ignore your rude tone and I'm checking that opening, and edit if I find anything.

Edit: all right I got it, that's really easy in context, since the coloured character in Ais' case is Loki and the coloured character in Welf'ss case is Hephaistos, + that pic in between where we see the same character in that position behind Lili.
That's the god Soma, who is the god of the current Lili's famiia.
When I saw the pic first I was kind of expecting this but I was hesitating with another character also related to Lili. Considering the other pics, this pretty much eliminates the other one.

Soma doesn't really appear in the story before the next volume (and so is the other one I was thinking about), so he isn't appearing in the anime (if we ever get a second season of danmachi you'll see him in around second episode) and I don't think we ever saw him in any illustrations of the novels, so I wasn't really imagining him like that.

ok, I've got it, your perception seems really logical, it's always God + member so that dude should certainly be Soma, makes sense. Okay thank you very much, and I apologize for offending you. It's true that I was kinda feeling uncomfortable but I honestly think it wasn't that rude to be pointed out like that man, I didn't use any strange words and there was still a "please" in there. Maybe I should've used Japanese to increase the politeness. "oshie te kudasai, Zefyris-san", how does that sound lol?

With that being said, now I have to ask myself how on earth didn't I notice that God + member thing, perhaps I should've thought about it a little bit more before asking this question here in the first place lol.

lol there's no need to go to that length, just don't be aggressive when someone just ask you further questions in the sake of answering your request and that'll be ok x).

Talk about being over powered... Belle is incredibly weak for the first 4 episodes, tad better before Minotauru's fight and then suddenly over took every single adventurer in a blink of days... LAME!

At least Kirito took a year or so to get to his high level and even so I hated how over powered he was.

This is simply ridiculous!

Him being a Zeus grandson still does not explain his sudden growth. And going by spoilers:

At least the fights are flashy and nicely animated but otherwise complete waste.

Though if I were to choose between this and SAO, I'll take this. At least there is actual linear story line and character development. Not like SAO mess where they skip months and years and then call it development.

I can write stories like that too "Oh main character is so weak... 1 year time skip, look how amazing he is now! What? It said 1 year time skip, Development!" my ass...
